Cannabis Networking on Green

4.5-minute read | July 25, 2026

At Salal Credit Union, green matters to us. It represents the cannabis industry, our members’ success, and, of course, the golf course.

This summer gave us another opportunity to strengthen relationships across the cannabis community through two events that bring business leaders together in a relaxed, welcoming setting. We were proud to once again sponsor the Puyallup Tribe Commencement Bay Cannabis Classic (CBC Classic) at Cedar Irons Golf Club in Tacoma, and we’re already looking forward to seeing many of you again at the LIT Golf Invitational later this month.

A Partnership That Goes Beyond the Fairway

Salal has proudly sponsored the Puyallup Tribe’s annual golf tournament since 2024 as part of our long-standing commitment to supporting the Tribe and its work to foster economic development and strengthen the community.

For us, sponsoring the CBC Classic has never been just about one day on the course. It’s about investing in lasting relationships. Each year, the tournament creates opportunities for cannabis businesses, community leaders, and industry partners to connect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the accomplishments of the Puyallup Tribe and its diverse business enterprises.

Looking Back at Another Great CBC Classic

On July 10, several members of our Business Services team spent the day on the fairway, including Business Account Officers Fady Nasiem and Amy Ridley, along with Business Banking Sales Manager Christoffer McCollom. As always, the event delivered plenty of meaningful conversations alongside some friendly competition.

One of Fady’s favorite memories from the 2025 CBC Classic was the opportunity to connect with members, colleagues, and new faces in a relaxed setting.

“The day was filled with great conversations, friendly competition, and the chance to build relationships with members, prospective members, and centers of influence that I might not have otherwise met,” Fady recalled. “Some members that we had the privilege to connect with include Nate with Gold Leaf and Ty with the Puyallup Tribe, as well as members like Kaylan with Micro Bar, just to name a few.”

The event also reinforced why Salal continues to invest in opportunities like these.

“It was great to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new members, and enjoy another exciting day on the course,” he enthused. “Events like this are a great reminder of the strong community that makes the Puyallup Tribe so special, as well as the impact we have in our communities as Salalians.”

Amy Ridley also returned to the tournament for her second year, spending time talking with cannabis business owners and employees about the financial tools available through Salal.

“I always get excited to talk about how Salal can help cannabis employees with our Workplace Banking program,” Amy shared. “Salal can open employee deposit accounts for cannabis in almost all fifty states.”

Throughout the day, Amy also made a point of visiting sponsor booths to learn more about the businesses that help move the cannabis industry forward.

“Listening to the business owners talk about their products or the services that they offer to the cannabis industry is enlightening,” Amy emphasized. “How can you truly advocate for your member or member business unless you understand how that business works?”

The CBC Classic once again showcased the Puyallup Tribe’s commitment to hospitality, partnership, and community investment. It’s the kind of event where conversations happen naturally, and new relationships often begin.

Next Stop: The LIT Golf Invitational

If you’re still looking for an opportunity to connect with fellow cannabis professionals this summer, there’s another great event just around the corner.

On August 28, we’ll once again sponsor the LIT Golf Invitational at Stone Creek Golf Club in the Portland area. After proudly supporting the event in 2024 and 2025, we’re excited to return for another year of networking, friendly competition, and community building.

“Last year, this event had more than 100 registered golfers, 18-hole sponsors, plus numerous other sponsors and attendees,” Christoffer recounted. “The event’s organizer, Matt Enos, does an amazing job of creating a well-rounded event.”

LIT offers much more than nine holes of golf. Before and after play, attendees can connect during networking sessions, enjoy games like cornhole, enter prize drawings, and meet sponsors throughout the course.

“Having a sponsor at each hole, often with their own games and activities, keeps the event lively and fun,” Christoffer added.

The day wraps up with dinner, awards, stories from the course, and often a guest speaker discussing topics relevant to the cannabis industry.

“Overall, this event provides a great opportunity to engage with those in both the cannabis and ancillary industries in a fun and meaningful way,” Christoffer said.

We Hope to See You There

Events like these reflect what matters most to us: showing up, building relationships, and supporting the businesses and people helping shape the cannabis industry.
