Fraud Alerts and Prevention Tips for Salal Members

3-minute read | Dec 9, 2025
Fraud Alert: Some Salal members are receiving fraudulent calls and texts spoofing Salal’s number. Remember, Salal will never contact you directly by text message, email, or phone call to verify information such as, the last four of your card number, your PIN, or CVV code on the back of your debit or credit card. If you’re suspicious of a call or message, do not engage and contact Salal directly at 800.562.5515.

Salal’s Latest Fraud Prevention Resources

Unfortunately, fraud and scams are part of modern life. At Salal, we’re committed to helping you protect your money and your personal information. We’ve created this collection of the latest fraud prevention resources, so you have one place to learn how to spot scams, prevent fraud, and take action when something doesn’t feel right.

Below, you’ll find our latest collection of helpful fraud prevention solutions and awareness articles. These cover everything from how to avoid peer-to-peer payment scams to what to do if you’ve been a victim of identity theft. We also explain how to recognize impersonation tactics and highlight the steps Salal will (and won’t) take when contacting you about fraud.

But first, here are some simple but important steps you can take to help protect yourself from financial threats and scammers.

Six Smart Ways to Stay Protected from Fraud

  • Pause and verify. If you get an unexpected call, text, or email—especially about money—take a moment to confirm it’s real using contact info you already trust.
  • Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA). Adding an extra layer of security to your online and mobile banking can stop scammers, even if they have your password.
  • Keep your devices and passwords up to date. Use strong, unique passwords (a password manager helps) and regularly update your apps and devices to protect against new threats.
  • Monitor your accounts with SavvyMoney. Available in Salal digital banking, SavvyMoney gives you credit monitoring, real-time alerts, and a full view of your credit health.
  • Be cautious before sending money. Especially with peer-to-peer apps like Zelle or Venmo—only send funds to people you know, and double-check any request that feels rushed or out of the blue.
  • Educate yourself. The Federal Reserve recently released two new toolkits to educate the public and raise awareness about payment scams and check fraud.

And remember: Salal will never reach out to you directly via text message, email, or phone call to verify sensitive information, such as the last four digits of your card number, your PIN, or the CVV code on the back of your debit or credit card.
