Running a business is a team effort. While authorized signers are responsible for approving payments, many businesses also rely on bookkeepers, accountants, office managers, and finance staff to handle day-to-day banking tasks.
That’s where a Non-Signer Business Administrator can help.
A Non-Signer Business Administrator gives trusted members of your team access to important account information and administrative support—without giving them full transaction authority. It’s a practical way to improve efficiency while helping protect your business accounts.
What Is a Non-Signer Business Administrator?
Every Salal Credit Union business account includes at least one authorized signer. Authorized signers have permission to perform activities such as signing checks, sending ACH payments, and creating Bill Pay transactions.
A Non-Signer Business Administrator is different.
This role is designed for employees or third-party professionals—such as bookkeepers, accountants, or controllers—who regularly work with your business finances but don’t need full signing authority. Instead, they can communicate directly with Salal Business Services and help manage routine account administration while operating within defined permissions.
By assigning this role, you can free up authorized signers to focus on running the business while still ensuring trusted staff members have the access they need to keep daily operations moving.
What Can a Non-Signer Business Administrator Do?
Depending on your business’s needs, this role can help with a variety of account-related requests, including:
- Account balance and transaction inquiries
- Cash logistics administration
- Cash logistics questions
- Check reorders
- Debit card block and reorder requests
- General account inquiries, including signer information
- Stop payment requests
- Stop payment removals
- Statement and check copy requests
- Transfers between accounts
These permissions make it easier for your support staff to handle everyday banking tasks while maintaining appropriate controls over your business accounts.
Why Assign a Non-Signer Business Administrator?
As your business grows, banking responsibilities often expand beyond the owner or primary decision-maker.
Adding this role can help you:
- Save time by allowing trusted staff to work directly with Salal Business Services
- Keep authorized signers focused on higher-priority business decisions
- Improve day-to-day efficiency for accounting and finance teams
- Maintain stronger internal controls by separating administrative responsibilities from full transaction authority
- Provide trusted outside professionals, such as bookkeepers or accountants, with the access they need without making them authorized signers.
It’s a simple way to give your team the tools they need while helping safeguard your business accounts.
How Is a Non-Signer Business Administrator Different from an Online Banking Sub-User?
This is one of the most common questions we receive.
A Non-Signer Business Administrator and an online banking sub-user are not the same thing.
Gracie Kim, Salal’s Business Banking Support Manager, explains:
“Non-signer business admins can obtain general account information but are limited to conducting and administering only specific transactions on the account without approval from an authorized signer.”
Gracie also points out that online banking access requires an additional step.
“Your primary administrator for online banking will need to create a sub-user profile for your Non-Signer Business Administrator to also grant them access to your business accounts online.”
In other words, assigning someone as a Non-Signer Business Administrator allows them to work directly with Salal Business Services. At the same time, online banking access must be managed separately through your business’s online banking administrator.
How to Add a Non-Signer Business Administrator
Adding a Non-Signer Business Administrator is straightforward.
An authorized representative of your business—such as your Control Person or the individual who signed your Business Account Card & Certificate of Authority—can contact Salal Business Services to request the change.
We’ll send you a Docusign form to review and sign. Once we receive your completed Docusign, we’ll add your new Non-Signer Business Administrator to your account.
Keep Your Account Permissions Up to Date
Businesses change, and so do the people who help manage them.
If a Non-Signer Business Administrator leaves your company or no longer needs access, please let us know as soon as possible. We’ll send you a Docusign form to authorize their removal and, if you’d like, help you add a replacement.
You can assign multiple Non-Signer Business Administrators to your business account. Keeping these permissions up to date is one of the simplest ways to help maintain the security of your account while ensuring the right people have the access they need.
