Getting answers and support from Salal just got faster and easier.
Berry, Salal’s new digital assistant, is now available here on our website and in online banking through a web browser on laptop, desktop, and mobile. Berry is designed to help you with everyday banking questions, guide you to useful resources, and connect you with Salal staff for more support when you need it.
In the coming months, Berry will also be available in our mobile banking app. Initially, Berry will be able to answer Personal banking questions, with the capability to answer Business banking questions coming later this year.

What Can Berry Help You With?
Salal’s new digital assistant is available 24/7 to get you quick answers and find the information you’re looking for. Berry can help you:
- Find a page, form, or resource.
- Get answers to common questions.
- Learn how to use a digital banking feature.
- Locate contact info or service hours.
- Explore Salal’s checking, savings, and lending options.
- Connect you with a Salal team member for more support.
And if you need further assistance, Berry can also connect you with a Salal team member from our Virtual Branch via live chat or phone during business hours (M–F: 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m. PT; Sat: 10 a.m.–2 p.m. PT).
Tips for Using Salal’s Digital Assistant
Asking Berry a question is easy. Just open the chat window and type your question in your own words, much like sending a text message. To get the best results, ask one question at a time and keep your questions clear and specific. For example, instead of typing “cards,” try asking “How do I lock my debit card?” or “How do I activate a new credit card?”

What hours is Berry available?
Yes. Our digital assistant is designed to help you get answers and info anytime, 24/7. Live chat and phone support with a Salal team member is available during normal business hours.
Where can I find Berry?
Berry is now available here on the Salal website and in online banking. In both places, just look for the “Let’s chat!” button in the lower right corner of the screen.
Once the chat window is open, you can move the window to another location on the screen by clicking on the small box at the upper left of the chat window with the four directional arrows.
In the coming months, Berry will also be available in our mobile banking app.
Can Berry connect me with a real person?
Yes indeed. If you need more help, Berry can connect you with a very real (and very helpful) Salal team member from our Virtual Branch during business hours.
Do I need to know special commands to use the digital assistant?
No. You can ask questions just like you would type a message to a friend.
Why did we name our digital assistant Berry?
Good question! Our credit union is named after the Salal plant, a tenacious evergreen that is native to the Pacific Northwest. The Salal plant produces berries, which are a traditional food source for the region’s Native American peoples.
