Salal to Co-Host Seattle Stop of 2025 MCBA Equity Workshop Tour

2.5-minute read | July 23, 2025

Salal Credit Union’s Business Services team is proud to host the Seattle stop of the 2025 Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA) Equity Workshop Tour. The event will take place Saturday, August 2, at Salal’s headquarters, and is presented in partnership with the Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA) and the Cannabis Alliance.

The MCBA Equity Workshop Tour is a national initiative designed to educate, uplift, and empower cannabis entrepreneurs from marginalized communities through practical resources, professional insights, and meaningful connections. The Seattle stop will feature presentations, panel discussions, complimentary lunch, and expert-led breakout sessions covering vital topics such as:

  • Business Development
  • Licensing & Compliance
  • Accounting & Tax Strategy
  • Banking & Financial Services
  • Data & Inventory Management
  • Marketing & Brand Strategy

Attendees will also hear directly from cannabis entrepreneurs who have navigated the challenges of launching and growing their businesses, providing valuable real-world insights.

This event marks Salal’s second time this year partnering with the MCBA on this impactful series. After sponsoring the 2025 Portland stop, Salal is excited to bring the tour home to Seattle, furthering its ongoing commitment to equity, access, and inclusion in the cannabis banking industry.

“At Salal, we believe building a more equitable cannabis industry starts with providing access to the right financial tools, knowledge, and support,” said Christoffer McCollom, Business Banking Sales Manager at Salal. “Hosting this workshop in Seattle reflects our commitment to empowering entrepreneurs from historically excluded communities.”

Aligning with Salal’s Social Equity Mission

The workshop aligns closely with Salal’s Social Equity Cannabis Banking Program, which is designed to give a boost to businesses that have been granted a social equity license from any state cannabis agency. By making business banking services more accessible, we aim to foster greater diversity in the cannabis industry. Through this program, eligible businesses gain access to discounted application fees and no minimum balance requirements for the life of the account, as well as one-on-one guidance and banking services tailored to the cannabis industry.

Salal has been a pioneer in cannabis banking, providing compliant, transparent, and accessible financial services to cannabis businesses of all sizes since 2014. The Social Equity program builds on that foundation by recognizing that not every entrepreneur starts from the same place and taking action to close that gap.
