We are pleased to announce that Salal’s headquarters building in Northgate has been given the highest level of certification by the EnviroStars Green Business Program. The EnviroStars program is led by a large regional partnership of cities, counties, and utilities, including the City of Seattle and Seattle City Light. EnviroStars brings together green business initiatives from around the Puget Sound region with the common goal of linking businesses to local environmental programs and encouraging companies to become more sustainable.
To become certified through the EnviroStars Green Business program, a business or organization must meet a list of qualifications on the program’s “green checklist,” including energy and water conservation, pollution prevention, and the reduction of toxic substances, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions. By meeting these standards, organizations like Salal are helping to create a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable future for our communities. The standards also help us improve efficiency and lower our operating costs—which saves our members money.
