Salal Will be Closed This Friday, June 12, for a Day of Reflection

Salal Credit Union stands with those seeking social and racial justice in our communities. We know that in order to make an impact, action must be taken. To show solidarity with those seeking change in our community, and to support employees wanting to take action, Salal’s branches and headquarters will be closed Friday, June 12 for a day of reflection.

We’re using this day as a time of reflection. We’re encouraging our staff to use the day to educate themselves, consider ways they can help bring about change, to volunteer within their community, and participate in peaceful demonstrations if they choose to.

As a member-owned organization that has been a part of the Seattle community for over 70 years, we are renewing our support for the Black community and all people of color in our communities experiencing social and racial injustice. Last week we pledged to donate $50,000 to be split equally between Black Lives Matter Seattle/King County, the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington, and Not This Time. We recognize that this donation is only a small start. This Friday we continue this commitment to helping bring about lasting change.

Thank you for being a member of Salal and allowing us the opportunity to better ourselves so we can work to build a better, safer, more equitable community.
