Yes, they need to make sure to use the unique link that you (the referrer) sent them to access our friends and family referee webpage. The person you are referring needs to follow the instructions on that page in order to qualify for the $50 digital Visa gift card.
You’ll both earn a $50 digital Visa gift card for each friend who opens a new checking account and meets the requirements. You can earn up to $500 in referral rewards each year.
Your friend or family member needs to follow the link you share with them, register their email on the Refer a Friend page, and then use the same email address when they open a new Salal checking account. Once their account is opened, they need to deposit $250 or more and make 10 transactions within 60 days.
Once your friend or family member you have referred meets the program requirements and their account is verified after the 60-day period. Your digital gift card will be sent to the email address Salal has on file within 5 business days.
Yes. You can earn up to $500 in referral rewards each year. That’s 10 successful referrals each calendar year.
You must be a U.S. resident, 18 years or older, and a Salal member in good standing to make a referral. The person you are referring must be eligible for Salal membership (see membership qualifications below), and be a U.S. resident, 18 years or older.
You qualify for Salal membership if you live or work in Washington state or an eligible Oregon county (Multnomah, Clackamas, Marion, Columbia, Douglas, Washington, Deschutes, Linn, or Lane). You can also qualify by being related to a member or employee of Salal Credit Union, if your employer is a Salal Foundation member, or by becoming a member by joining the Salal Foundation.
Unfortunately, current employees of Salal Credit Union or any of its subsidiaries, affiliates, or promotional agencies are not eligible to receive the reward. However, they can refer friends and family to the program who could earn the reward if they meet the program requirements.

By participating in the Salal Credit Union Refer a Friend Program (Program), the Advocate (existing member) and Friend (new member) agree that Salal Credit Union (We, Our) may report to the IRS the value of the reward, and any applicable taxes are the responsibility of each recipient. By participating in this Program and in order to receive the reward, the Advocate and Friend acknowledge that their status as a member in good standing with Salal Credit Union may be disclosed to the other party.
To qualify for the reward:
At the time the reward is credited, the Advocate and Friend must be a member in good standing, as defined within our Consumer Membership & Account Agreement here.
The Friend must open a qualifying consumer Salal checking account and within 60 days, deposit $250 or more, and complete 10 transactions. The Friend must also meet the requirements and qualifications for membership for a new Salal consumer checking account.
If offer requirements are met within 60 days, the reward will be sent to the email address on file within 5 business days. Offer may change or discontinue at any time.
The following account types are not eligible to receive a Refer a Friend Program credit: Club, Estate, Guardianship, Minor Individual, Uniform Transfers to Minors Account, Trust, IOLTA and Individual Attorney Trust, Representative Payee, Partner Mortgage Program, or any Business Account.
We reserve the right to determine in our sole discretion the eligibility of Advocates and Friends for Program participation. We reserve the right to disqualify referrals in circumstances where we believe they were not sent to us in good faith. We further reserve the right to alter the Program terms or discontinue the Program at any time without providing prior notification. Salal Credit Union employees and members of the Salal Board of Directors are not eligible to receive the reward for the referral Program.
