We’re pleased to announce that Judy Loveless-Morris, Salal’s Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity and People Officer, has been appointed by Washington State Governor Jay Inslee to serve on the state’s Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission.
The Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission regulates and sets competency standards for nurses working in Washington with the goal of protecting public health and safety. This includes overseeing licensing, shaping curriculum and establishing criteria for nursing schools, setting standards for continuing education, and reviewing disciplinary cases.
As a former Dean of Academics who oversaw the Nursing program at Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, WA, Judy has a background that makes her very well suited for her new role on the Commission. Judy has also served as Vice President for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Tacoma Community College, where she worked closely with the Director of Nursing to improve curriculum and overall graduation rates. In 2019-2020, she worked with a statewide task force to review pipeline issues into the nursing field and recommended ways to cultivate a diverse pool of nurses in Washington state.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with a strong and admirable group to help shape and support a strong nursing workforce at every leverage point—recruitment, education, hiring, disciplinary, and retention,” Judy said of her upcoming post.
Judy’s service on the Commission continues Salal’s long tradition of supporting healthcare professionals through scholarships, grants, and specialized banking solutions such as our Nurse’s Home Loan program.
